Several groups have studied the response of Pd nanoparticles to hydrogen [39,40,48]. Favier et al.  found an inverse response of their Pd mesowires to hydrogen. They concluded that gaps in the connections of the Pd particles increased the resistance of the Pd while the swelling caused by the phase change when exposed to hydrogen decreased their resistance.
